Faits

  • This is the first building in Poland to make use of a double-skin glass façade on all elevations.
  • One of the atriums houses a wooden cuboid with small round windows resembling those of early aeroplanes. It is home to a small exhibit on the history of Polish aviation.
  • Designed to accommodate the Polish Airlines headquaters, the building alludes to the imagery of aviation with its technological simplicity and elegance of form.
  • Due to extensive use of industrial glass the building seems to be transparent; the architect's intention was to make it look more virtual than real.
  • The lobby's floor is clad in black granite plates which reflect the sky and moving clouds thanks to a fully-glazed roof.
  • The interior features two full-height atriums - the publicly accessible entry hall and an inner courtyard enclosed by office space.
  • The double-skin glass façade, modeled on architect Stefan Kuryłowicz's previous work - Focus Filtrowa, is designed to protect tenants from both excessive heat during summer and noise from the nearby airport.
