Faits

  • This building was severely damaged by fire at Thanksgiving, 1982. The gutted building was eventually imploded on March 11, 1984.
  • From 1949 to the destructive fire in 1982, the building was adorned with a 'weatherball' which changed color to indicate the weather forecast.
  • The first skyway in Minneapolis bridged Marquette Avenue and connected this building to Northstar West, then known as the Cargill Building.
  • The structural system was composed of steel beams and columns encased in concrete.
  • The Wells Fargo Center, formerly Norwest Center, now stands on this site.
  • The P.H. Peterson & Company Building was formerly located on the northern end of this site.
