Faits

  • Originally proposed as a government office tower.
  • Note: The final design was altered considerably from the one presented in this file. A record of the architect's rendering has not yet been found.
  • This was to have been Vancouver's tallest building, but the government who proposed it lost the election in 1972. Many were concerned over the 'shadow' it would cast downtown.
  • When the building was near construction, the new government scrapped the plans and opted for the Arthur Erickson designed Provincial Law Courts which many referred to as B.C. Centre on its back! Robson Square has a glass roofed courthouse, three cascading waterfalls and grand landscaping in a terraced three block long complex.
