Faits

  • Built on the former site of Chicago's Greyhound Bus Station.
  • The unusual top has a steep slope on the east, and is screened on the west by a large decorative construction that is often likened to the roof comb of a Mayan temple.
  • The top, which was brilliantly illuminated at night and stood as a prominent beacon, went dark shortly after Chicago Title & Trust moved its headquarters out in October 2012.
  • Renamed Grant Thornton Tower when the company moved into the tower in 2015.
  • The northern wing was intended as a central entrance for both the existing tower and an unbuilt north tower at 181 North Clark.
  • The building's base was designed to give symmetry to the Thompson Center by matching the height of the City Hall & County Building.
  • The basement is connected by a pedway with the Thompson Center to the west.
