  • The Nisqually earthquake on February 28, 2001, did extensive damage to the building toppling parapet walls that fell more than 100 feet onto the street, sidewalks and parked cars.
  • The repair work from the earthquake, with costs exceeding 40 million dollars, has been completed with the goal to restore the original historical appearance.
  • Site was originally tide flats that was built up from sawdust from Yesler's mill and the many regrades in Seattle.
  • Starbucks began in Seattle's Pike Place Market in 1971
  • Built in 1912 by the Union Pacific railroad to lure Sears to Seattle.
  • Starbucks has outgrown its 1.8 million s.f. headquarters
