Faits

  • The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
  • This building's architect, Henry Bacon, also designed the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC.
  • An unbuilt addition, known as the Point Building, was designed by Walker & Weeks in 1946-47 to expand the department store up to the point at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and Huron Road East. Instead this point is now occupied by Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square.
  • Halle’s closed in January 1982. It became an office building in 1986 and is currently apartments.
  • Originally planned to be an office building called the Pope Building, the Halle Brothers Department Store signed a long term lease on November 28, 1908.
