  • Originally the Orbanco Headquarters Building.
  • On June 4, 2002 the building's name changed from 1001 Fifth to Congress Center.
  • The building does not have a 13th floor.
  • The HVAC system consists of a double duct variable air volume system with electrical resistance heat and two chillers.
  • The 2-story lobbies feature granite walls with 2-story glass trim, limestone floors, and Anigre wood walls.
  • The 2001 renovation included the first two floors and other common areas.
  • A typical floor plate is approximately 16,000 square-feet.
  • The building is hexagonal in shape, clad in charcoal gray reflective glass with Spanish pink granite at the base.
  • The Portland Historical Landmark Commission gave a Certificate of Merit to the building for replicating the historic arches of the former hotel.
  • The name of the building was taken from the Congress Hotel, which sat on this site until the late 1970s.
  • The building occupies a full city block.
