  • Known as the Porter Building from 1922-1946 after Andrew Porter, a Portland businessman and director of the U.S. National Bank, purchased the building.
  • U.S. Bancorp sold building in 1986 and bought it again in 1993.
  • Portland's first skyscraper was erected through the influence of the president of Wells Fargo Bank, Colonel Dudley Evans.
  • The project's investors originally wanted the site between Fifth Avenue and Alder Street.
  • The building has been placed in the US National Register of Historic Places since 1986.
  • At the time of its completion, the Wells Fargo Building was the tallest building in Portland.
  • The eastern top section of the building's facade spells the word "Wells", and the northern section spells "Fargo".
