Faits

  • 2,872 US tons of steel were used in the hotel's construction.
  • The foundations consist of 14" diameter concrete-filled steel friction piles, driven to a depth of approximately 100 feet.
  • This was one of the largest hotels in the locally-based Radisson chain from completion until March 16, 2004, when it was officially reflagged, becoming the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel Minneapolis South.
  • The hotel tower utilizes a staggered truss framing system for wind resistance; the trusses are of the Pratt type, measuring 53 feet 4 inches in length and a full floor in height.
  • The north and south ends of the building hold mechanical cores, elevators, and stairwells.
  • This was the tallest building in Bloomington from 1970 until 1974 with completion of Wells Fargo Plaza, then known as the Norwest Financial Center.
