  • Tallest building in Alabama from 1912-1913; surpassed by the City Federal Building.
  • The renovation of the building in 2000 cost $20 million.
  • The lower eight floors of this building contain office space and the top twelve floors are loft apartments and luxury condominiums.
  • Combined with the Brown Marx Tower, Woodward Building, and Empire Building, the John Hand Building was a part of what was billed as being "heaviest corner on earth" in the early 1900s.
  • Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
  • Renamed after former First National Bank president John A. Hand in 1930.
