Faits

  • One of several state pavilions at the 1893 World's Fair. Other major pavilions included California's and New York's.
  • The building had the second-tallest dome in the Columbian Exposition, behind only the Columbian Exposition Administration Building.
  • The site was at the west end of a bridge across the lagoon. Today the bridge is informally called the Clarence Darrow Bridge, because the famous atheist lawyer promised his friends that if there were an afterlife he would reappear at the bridge every year as a ghost.
  • Located southwest of the Palace of Fine Arts (presently the Museum of Science and Industry, and the only building from the fair remaining on the site). The two buildings were separated by a small lagoon which still exists.
