  • The Maritime Building is the oldest and first skyscraper in New Orleans, completed in July 1895.
  • The 11th floor was added in 1922 after the building was purchased by Canal Commercial Bank.
  • The two story base was remodeled with arched openings by the architect Emile Weil in the early 1920s.
  • Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
  • Tallest building in New Orleans from 1895-1904; surpassed by the Hampton Inn New Orleans Downtown.
  • Purchased in November 2006 with plans for a $34 million makeover into 108 rental apartments and retail space.
  • As part of the proposed renovations, a 12th floor would be added containing four large apartments, two imperial pools, a fitness center, sauna and hot tub.
