HP Pavilion
Compaq Center, San Jose Arena, Shark Tank

Structure générale

construit [achevé]

salle de concert hockey sur glace

  • The arena is the home of the San Jose Sharks, the city's NHL-Ice-Hockey team, and is often referred to as the "Shark Tank".
  • The building is an indoor arena that can be configured to host a wide range of events, from ice hockey, tennis and basketball, to circuses and concerts.
  • The building was called the San Jose Arena from 1993 to 2001; naming rights were sold to Compaq in 2001, from which point the arena was called Compaq Center at San Jose, until 2002, when Compaq was purchased by HP; the building was renamed again to HP Pavilion at that time.
  • The arena is named after one of HP's computer product-lines, called the "Pavilion".
  • The arena is one of the busiest venues for non-sporting events in the world, consistently hosting 120 to 180 events every year, not including the 40 regular season home games for The Sharks.
  • The exterior is made up of concrete, space-frame steel truss, ribbed stainless-steel siding, and includes a 10-story, glass, pyramid-shaped main entrance.
  • 33,000 cubic yards of concrete, 1,800 tons of structural steel, and 40,000 square feet of glass were used in the construction of the building.
  • Depending upon the event, the arena can be configured to seat from 16,000 to 20,000 people.
