Plan

Faits

  • Named after the Central Station train depot which used to overlook this site from the corner of Grant Park. It was a major port of entry for new Chicagoans coming from the south.
  • Development began around 1990 with several rows of luxury townhouses, which are often compared to the residential neighborhoods of London.
  • The first highrise in the project began construction in November 2000. Several more are under construction or planned.
  • Central Station's most famous resident is Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley, who moved into one of the townhomes from the Bridgeport neighborhood.
  • Central Station's tall buildings will help to define the edges of Grant Park, and fill in the gaps in the south lakefront skyline.
