Plan

Faits

  • Initial plans for the final scheme were first submitted for planning in 2002, and following revisions were approved in July 2005.
  • The 1 Millharbour site was previously occupied by a 10-storey office building, which was badly damaged by a terrorist bomb attack on 9th February 1996. The remains were demolished several years later.
  • In 1997, consent was granted for the redevelopment of the site to provide a new 20-storey tower containing 124 residential units and the refurbishment of the existing 10-storey building to provide 6,838sq m of office floorspace.
  • In 1999, a planning application for a 42-storey office tower, designed by Squire and Partners, was submitted. The application was replaced in 2000 by plans for a 25-storey tower, which was granted consent in May 2001.
  • The scheme provides 793 residential units with retail, leisure and community uses, in two towers. The total built area is 67,933sq m. 218 car and 308 cycle parking spaces are provided in a common basement level.
  • On 19th July 2006, planning permission was granted to increase the height of Tower 1 to 147.4m with 48 storeys, and Tower 2 to 121.8m with 39 storeys. The revised scheme retained the same design as the original scheme.
